The cladding of buildings with rock slabs opens up possibilities to introduce new functionalities. Multiple functions that can be added to this type of facades were evaluated, increasing their aesthetic value and offering a range of possibilities not available on the market.
One of the main results obtained concerns the lighting of facades (Led Facade).
Using the JAVA platform, a program (Transgranitos Led Controller) was developed, which allows using the computer to send data to the controller that communicates with the Led facade.
This software can communicate with various controllers using the CAN-FD communication system.
The developed software makes it possible to identify several controllers, carry out tests to verify the facade is working, define the content presentation speed and send the animations / patterns that were conceived using the LED Matrix Studio software.
In order to obtain results as close as possible to reality, the studied system was implemented in 6m2 of facade.
For this, 12 facade panels with 1000x500x30 mm were used.
The solution found for the placement of the rock panels in order to maximize lighting by the LED strips, with inclination and partial overlap between the rows of panels, constitutes an innovation and allows new architectural approaches.
